Congratulations, Bob! By playing to the absolute lowest common denominator, you've lost my business. I realize you probably don't care, because you've certainly gotten a positive response from your video log and advertising choices. Personally, I prefer more a little more imagination and creativity, and a lot more class.
P.S. I wasn't able to post this the first time, because your spam blocker doesn't allow comments with a URL like the one I got here. I'm considering that a sign...

Wow, lots of comments from guys!

For the record, I don't mind that there are GoDaddy girls, however, I do feel like I have been slapped in the face. I have purchased from GoDaddy for gosh, I think over 8 years now?? I can't remember it's been so long since I was a domain name virgin. Anyway, I do feel slighted that your female clients, such as myself, are not entitled to see some beefcake in the form of GoDaddy Guys during superbowl. Yeah, Ford's ad during Superbowl... that was NOT beefcake!

Can you give a girl a break here? Remember, you do have women in the internet work force, and I feel we deserve to be recognized and catered to as much as the other "guy". Is our money that different? You know... behind most successful guys, there is a smart woman. You might consider that Bob! How many women are working in your office, making positive contributions on a daily basis?

I also know that I have referred many other clients, both female and male your way over those years. Is is too much to ask for a little reciprocating loyalty here? Hey, if my fellow net guru girls are out there, send me a shoutout for support here!

Thanks for hearing my plea for some six pack footage! Afterall, I think it's only fair! :) ~ Corina

Danica Patrick is awesome! GoDaddy must be doing something right to get her to put her name and face on the company.

GoDaddy not only offers quality products, but has fantastic support to back them. Thanks!

A note to Bob Parsons: The public is not as dumb as you think (most of us anyway). Thanks for selling my email address to spam advertisers. Was just trying to conduct a legitimate business by finding my domain at a good price. So much for your admission that your prices are low because of no nonsense business practices.

GoDaddy never has provided any customer information to other advertisers, nor will we ever do that.

We don't sell our customer's information. To the contrary, we fiercely protect it.

You are such an Idiot Bob Parsons!! I can't believe the Trashy Porno Girl/s you use in your commercials. Do you really think women are going to want to have anything to do with your business?
You think you are a stud-muffin & you look Pathetic. What are you a Howard Stern "wanna be?" Maybe you have to use Porn to attract the Creeps to your Business & that's exactly how your commercials look. Like some Nasty Whores advertsing for you.

Why don't you have some decency & stay out of our Family shows? Save your corruptness for yourself or why can't you step up & Be a Real Man & have some morals for the Families watching. I just hope others will complain about you. In the end, God will be your Judge. Shame on you Bob Parsons!!

I just started looking into setting up GoDaddy hosting for my company's website. I posted on my favorite messageboard "what do you think of GoDaddy," and people posted back that Bob is a sexist loon. I love the products that the company has to offer, it would be just perfect for us, but as a woman I don't feel comfortable pumping money into a sexist organization.

Bob, what would your response to that characterization be? Why should I work with your company?

They act so "holy", but then the next moment they are buying products at BIG BOX stores that were made by children and slave-women in countries like China. Ya, you're so perfect, aren't you??? PUHLEEEZE people - lay off Bob - you're just jealous you didn't think of it!

Bob - you do what you want - you founded the company, you run it, have at it my friend.

Bob and Nina,
Where are these people coming from??? The Middle East? Put all the women in Burkas and change the name of the company to "GoFather". I have always thought that brains and beauty was a great combo. It is funny to hear these closet puritans speak. Maybe if all these whiners quit GoDaddy the conversation in the blog would go up a notch or two. It seems pointless to try and defend yourselves from the comments and threats of the more narrow minded in our society.
GoDaddy likened to porn? The females compared to sluts? What an outrage! Be glad they are leaving. Their loss is our reprieve from mental anguish.

I find it hilarious that people care so much about this. So what, sex sells, it's a part of life and Bob's just having a good time. The saying "any press is good press" seems to be true here. For every 1 person that's offended, probably another 5 will become GoDaddy customers - controversy stimulates conversation which increases business.

Bob, I love your blog and have been a loyal GoDaddy custom for years - many, many years, even though I'm only 24. Although we don't use Website Tonight etc — kind of a direct competitor to us ;) because we have our own site builder, email marketing solution, etc — your marketing, products, services and support are great. We registered our company domain with you about 4 years ago and have never had any problems.

I'll be taking a leaf out of your book the next time me and my business partner Eddie come to do some marketing. Much respect, Bob.

if you want a performance oriented 'female', rather than Danica you might want to consider Melanie Troxel who HAS won races, is competitive and is more than just a pretty face... she runs on the NHRA Powerade Drag Racing series .. more bling for the dollar !

I understand your comment but here is a suggestion .. type in Melanie Troxel in your favorite search engine, you will find her as this year's Sportswoman of the Year, only female driver nominated for a ESPY, Driver of the Year nominee, been on many many tv programs.. just because you may not know someone doesn't mean much in today's world .. also look at what your spending to be just another tag along with Patrick and look at the races they run and where, compare that to the scope of the NHRA races, 23 stops all in the major markets, all races on ESPN2 etc .. as I said more bling for the buck ! give it some thought for the future !
#15.1.1 David on Nov 17 2006, 10:38 Reply
Winning races and being honored as sports-person of the year is one thing, but being well-known makes a more believable spokesperson or endorser. The latter quality makes any athlete, actor, etc. a more marketable person. As blunt as that sounds, it's just the nature of the business.

Here's an idea:

To dispell any notions of sexism or the using of women as sex/marketing objects, why not present future Godaddy Girls who just happen to be scientists—maybe a computer scientist or two...how 'bout a female rocket scientist?

...then use equations and binary code instead of natural language ad copy...with some orbital mechanics calculus thrown in as an added crowd pleaser...

...what will the nay-sayers say then?

#19 ARLAN DEAN (http://www.dataphysix-plus.com) on Oct 22 2006, 22:10 Reply
Dear Arlan,

I don't know if this would leave the nay-sayers speechless or not. I am fairly certain however that the end result of using GoDaddy Girl scientists communicating with equations and binary code would be me going broke.

I think the vast majority (read over 95% of males, and over 90% of females) like the GoDaddy Girl — Candice Michelle — just the way we present her in our commercials.

Bob

Bob, I've been following this thread and weighing the arguments since mid-October and something just dawned on me only today ("duh!";):

My own site has an image of a young attractive female on the home page. I picked the image because overall I felt it added something to the site. And yeah, because the image's subject is pretty. It's a stock image, but I hardly think the "girl" in it would disapprove if she saw it.

If Danica's OK with being a Godaddy Girl then who's business is it really? It's her call and yours. We all have the right to voice an opinion for or against (and that's a good thing), but for those here waging a pitched battle against the evils of Godaddy Girls, it seems there are some real injustices in the world that need some attention.

They can scream about the deeper psycho/socio/sexual/political ramifications all they want, but at the end of the day—well what have they really been screaming about?

Why don't you get streaming audio and video so that when people connect to my site with their cell phones I will have something interesting to show them.

#21 Joe Cazana (www.sv-seaoflove.com) on Oct 20 2006, 19:23 Reply
Dear Joe,

We provide the option for streaming audio and video on our website tonight sites. However in accordance with specs provided by the .mobi folks (i.e. .mobi web developer guide) we don't allow streaming anything to go through on a mobile phone connection. The reason for this is that they were concerned that most phones didn't have the circuitry/software to handle this type of content.

The above said, we're now looking at this on our own, and just might be addressing it apart from the .mobi folks in the not too distant future.

If you want a website with Go Daddy because of good pricing and service, what does it matter that he hangs with women who represent a very small percent of the female population, and they may be very nice people with just as many hang-ups as anyone else. Don't judge a book by its cover, or in this case, not much cover ;-) Whatever...

Wow...where to begin.

First of all I live in Alaska, and I am for drilling 100%, as most Alaskans are. The oil companies drilling up here are professional and the state of Alaska has some of the most stringent environmental laws in the country. Where they plan on drilling is a desert - a frozen desert.

The same argument came about when they built the Alaska pipeline in the '70's. Caribou use the area around the pipeline to stay warm in the brutal interior winters. How is that hurting the environment?

Now on to the sexist allegations. Sex sells and Bob's wallet proves that. There is nothing wrong with how he promotes his business as it is his business. Women find nothing wrong with using a male model to sell an item or service, but when an attractive woman is used all hell breaks loose!

These feminists need to come down off of their high horse and join the rest of civilization. Women deserve the same opportunities, jobs, and salaries as men, but if they want to play the game, they have to accept the rules. Men are men and women are women. Be proud of who you are!
